Girls' at work - a glimpse into the future

This year, Masterflex AG again participated in the career orientation day "Girls'Day" - the girls' day of the future, which took place nationwide yesterday.

Masterflex AG, Gelsenkirchen - April 15, 2011

Masterflex AG participated again this year in the career orientation day "Girls'Day" - the girls' day of the future, which took place nationwide yesterday. Seven ninth grade girls from the comprehensive school in Gelsenkirchen-Buer visited Masterflex AG to spend a day getting to know the various work areas and processes of an internationally active industrial company. The focus was on occupational areas such as technology, IT, production, shipping & logistics, among others, in which women have so far been rather rarely represented.

During an exciting company rally through the company, the girls took advantage of their opportunity to get a taste of a wide range of different fields of work. The company was closely scrutinized. Through personal discussions with the employees, many tricky questions about the various departments and activities had to be answered. The focus on this day was on practical experience. Using various examples, the participants experienced how interesting and exciting these different jobs can be.

Why a future day for girls?

Girls'Day is the largest career orientation project for schoolgirls and offers female students in grades 5 to 10 the opportunity to get to know the working world once a year and gain an insight into a wide range of professions, particularly in the technical and scientific fields. Girls' Day" pursues the goal of significantly broadening girls' spectrum of career choices through contacts between schoolgirls and the working world. Girls should be encouraged to make use of the diversity of their talents and also to take an interest in careers in new, promising sectors.

Boys' Day was also offered for the first time this year, with students in fifth grade and above learning about jobs in which men have rarely been represented to date, such as in the education, care and health sectors.
