Masterflex sells Clean Air Bike GmbH, Berlin, and Velo Drive GmbH, Herten, in April. Towards the end of the year, its fuel cell technology activities are divested as part of an asset deal in October. The completes the project to refocus on the core business of high-tech connecting hose systems, which had begun in 2008.
Together with its subsidiary Masterflex Cesko s.r.o, Masterflex starts direct selling in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
In summer, Masterflex joins the industry acceptance campaign run by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of North-Rhine Westphalia. This initiative encourages the local industrial companies to campaign for greater understanding and togetherness with the people of the region.
In Autumn, Dr. Andreas Bastin, CEO of Masterflex, becomes ‘Turnarounder of the Year 2011’ in the category of ‘Companies up to 500 employees’. The prize is awarded by the accountancy and auditing firm, BDO, and German magazine, Impulse.
In November, Masterflex ends it legal dispute with a commercial bank, shareholders and D&O Insurance regarding an interest rate swap agreement which was cancelled in 2009. This results in non-operating income of roughly € 0.9 million for Masterflex. The additional funds are used to further reduce the Group’s debt.
The Masterflex Group starts its expansion into Asia in December. The Asian parent company Masterflex Asia Pte Ltd is established in Singapore along with a further site near Shanghai in China.
Masterflex is commended for its successful participation in the "Ökoprofit" project (Ecological Project for Integrated Environmental Technology) with the aim of reducing the impact on the environment and reducing operating costs.
The subsidiary Novoplast Schlauchtechnik launches the innovative product range, X-Flame®, onto the market which meets the requirements of the welding industry in particular due to attributes such as “self-extinguishing” and “halogen-free”.
For further expansion into Asia, Masterflex set up subsidiaries in Germany, Singapore and China. After successfully identifying a site, the sales team is gradually hired in Singapore and China.
In June, with a large majority, the Annual General Meeting approves the transformation of the company into an SE (Societas Europaea). The reason behind changing the legal form is that an SE is considered to be more acceptable to globally operating customers and investors. On 1 October 2012, the change of legal form to Masterflex SE officially came into force. The shares listing on the stock market remains unchanged.
In August, Masterflex is awarded ‘Family-friendly Company’ by the Gelsenkirchener Bündnis für Familien (Gelsenkirchen Local Family Alliance). This recognises Masterflex for running family-friendly work schemes and emergency arrangements (in case of illness or cancelled lessons) for many years.
In October, Masterflex celebrates its 25th anniversary. To mark this occasion, donations for Gelsenkirchener Tafel e.V. children’s foundation are campaigned for both inside and outside the firm. A respectable four-figure sum is collected.
Since March 2013, Masterflex has started to present its new brand identity. Under the umbrella brand Masterflex Group, all products are offered as part of one of the 5 company brands - Masterflex, Matzen & Timm, Novoplast Schlauchtechnik, Fleima-Plastic and Masterduct.
In May, the Group's refinancing was re-arranged until the year 2018. The new syndicated loan totalling up to € 40 million has a duration to June 2018 and has been concluded with only 4 banks now. The new agreement replaces the current loan (duration until 2015) and essentially all other credit lines in the Masterflex Group. It also provides funds for potential acquisitions in the core business.
Im September 2013, the Masterflex Group introduces an absolut world first onto the markets for spiral hoses: the „Master-PUR Performance®“ of the Masterflex brand. This extruded spiral hose with a perfectly smooth inner lining is especially designed for industrial applications where highly abrasive bulk goods are transported and a high level of flexibility is required.
The market intro is accompinied with a crossmedia image campaign under the image heading 'A star is born' with a baby nice to watch.
In autumn 2013, Masterflex Group puts into operation new cleaning rooms at the location of Halberstadt. To meet the increasing customer demand in the field of medical technology, the production facilities for the brand Novoplast Schlauchtechnik have been extended.
In February 2014, Masterflex Group launches a world innovation Master-PUR Trivolution: one hose with three extra features. The Master-PUR Trivolution® spiral hose is antistatic, microbe-resistant and hardly inflammable in accordance with DIN 4102 B1.
For the product launch, a new, colorful and friendly marketing campaign has been created with 3 so called 'Super-Heroes' (see right).
At Hannover fair trade, Masterflex Group presents its brands Masterflex and Novoplast Schlauchtechnik together at one booth for the first time. The Minister President for the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt, Dr. Reiner Haseloff, visited the booth to find out more about the Group’s latest innovations.
In autumn, the innovative FireFlex has been launched on the US market. The high-temperature exhaust hose FireFlex™ was especially designed for the use in fire departments.
Within the sponsoring cooperation with the 'Tafel Gelsenkirchen', the apprentices of the location Gelsenkirchen sort and pack donations of food and clothes as christmas presents for two days during the Advent season.
